Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was promoted to Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively along with the president Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
